EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: Michael Chiang, the Jiu Jitsu loving mumbler

As a child, Michael played video games galore, collected baseball cards, read comics, and had dreams of becoming a cop. Born in Taiwan, Michael’s family immigrated to America at the tender age of 2 and settled in Hacienda Heights in the San Gabriel Valley.

After attending Cal State Fullerton, Michael chose a career in recruiting instead of pursuing his police academy dreams. Prior to joining Crescent 3 years ago, he was working at another boutique staffing firm. “Walking into the corporate office in Irvine and seeing the Soprano-like painting of the CEO, I knew the culture was a fit immediately,” Michael says. Since then he has opened up the Los Angeles branch and excelled in developing a presence of Crescent Solutions across LA County.

Though pretending to know nothing of the word “fun” and eating copious amounts of Chinese food, this married man stays extremely active. He recently ran a half marathon in Orlando, and has spent the past 2 years practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! “I feel really lucky to get to work with someone that I call my friend everyday, but aside from that, I get to work with someone who is active in the community,” says colleague Stephanie Le, Director of Operations. “I admire that he’s generous with both his time and his money.” He jokes, “I have multiple personalities. People may think I’m hard to approach but in reality, if you come up to me, I’ll chat. You might not like what you hear because I have a habit of mumbling, but I’m trying to fix that.” He added, “Oh ya, people report to me.”

When asked about one of his most memorable experiences at Crescent, Michael laughs and recalls, “One of my new hires who went to pharmacy school was getting sick…well, he was always sick. He thought it was a good idea to pop NyQuil at 10am.” Bad idea alert!
